Hello and greetings from India!
After 21 hours of ridiculously uncomfortable flights not counting transit time, I arrived in India!
My flights were horrible! On my flight from Chicago to Frankfurt, the flight wasn’t full at all… Good right? Like, there was a row next to me of 4 empty consecutive seats…
bUt I was stuck between the window and a giant German man… At first, he asked if he cou,d move to some of those empty seats, but they told him no because they wanted to try to sell them to someone else (these wre the economy plus or whatever w extra leg room)… So that was lame…
We talked a bit,o but it just3 became awkward cuz we kept misunderstanding each other because his English wasn’t great…
Example.
At one point we hit a little turbulence, and as he wedded up his trash and put it in his empty cup, he pointed towards my cup and trash and said sondthing…
So I handdd him my trash.
But them, I realized he hadn.t said, give me the trash.. It really had been something kind, “you shoukd hold onto your drink since we have turbulence.” HA.
Another time, I asked, “did you hear what they said about the food?”
And he answered, “Hm. Yes, I think maybe its called a backward. Ha.
So anyway.. Later durig the fkight,. when he was sleeping, he kept getting all inch space. Like, his legswere over my side of that imaginary line of space WAY over. And at one point, I woke up with my knee resting on top of his. Awkward. Really awkward.
Oh and then, he was sleeping the whole time, so I couldn’t get out to go to the bathroom… And eventually I got heartburn…
Oh and also my tv screen didn’t work at all… Completely broken.
The next flight from Germany to Chennai wasn,t bad as far as space… The guy I was next to basically didn’t move at all the entire flight. No joke. He just st there really still, with his hands folded on top of the packaged blanket that still sat in his lap… The entire 9 hours…
Also, he didn’t speaj any english,l German, or Indian. The only English he knew was coca cola –ehich sounded more like gogagol…
When the attendants would come around and as, ‘what would you like to drink?’ he would shrug his shoulders brcause he didn’t understand a word…
Asp, I concluded that he had never flown before, based on his apparent discomfort and because later I noticed that he mimicked what I would do.
If I pulled my tray out, he’d pulk his. If I put my earphones in the pouch I front of me, he would too….
In the last 3 hours of the flight, I discovered that he spoke Spanish and was from Barcelona… So I translated in broken Spanish when the waiter came around the last few times…
Oh boy. On a positivr note, Germany is beautiful right noe… Chicago too for that matter… Leaves on the trees are turning colors! Soooo pretty! I forgot that happened in there world 😛
So anyway, finally arrived a little before midnight, and Poorna (friend whoi,s getting married) and his uncle met Yukiko and me at the airport…
I’ll write more later today hopefully and put up some pictures, because I am in love with India currently! Already have awesome things to tell you 🙂
good to hear you haha.
good news we have a roommate!!
