In all my world travels, I’ve never been really sick… (other than typical sinus/allergy/cold stuff). That is, until now. Thank you, Kenya. Apparently there’s been some bug going around here and congratulations to me, I got it. I guess I should have been drinking that Emergen-C mix more often…
Don’t freak out. It’s not yellow fever or something crazy. I have all the necessary vaccinations.
But still unpleasant.
I don’t really know what it feels like to be naseaus because the last time that happened, I was 8. Short version… It was a LONG night and I haven’t been that sick…. since I was 8.
The bad news is, I threw up on someone else’s floor, in someone else’s room, in someone else’s house.
The good news is, I am better today. Apparently this is just a one-day bug.
The other really good news is that we happened to be staying in town at some of Bari’s friends’ house. They’ve lived here 25 years and their kids have grown up here. Really cool, kind, and down to earth people. Their house is so nice, I felt like I was back in the States.
I couldn’t have been more thankful that we were there for the night instead of outside of town, at Bari’s residence, with the exploding shower-head, and the leaky-non-flushing toilet, and the concrete floor.
Holly was so kind to take care of me… I also found out I was not even close to the first person to be sick at their house… So that made me feel better.
ANyway… today we took it easy, went to a Masaii market and got some souvenirs, and tomorrow we’ll go on an early morning safari. YAY. I’ve been looking most forward to it!
Before you know it, I’ll be in Ukraine…
