Everything’s Better in Texas

We’re home!

And something funny happened today on the last leg of our trip.

Everyone strongly agreed that Texas stands out as the best thus far. Now, I’m not one of those brag about Texas people.

BUT

there was something wonderful about reentering our state.

We even made a list of the things we love about Texas after our trip to the desert.

Actually, we got a little list-crazy and made a lot of lists… but I’ll share a few.

3000 miles.
5 states: Texas, Arizona, New Mexico, Utah (a tiny piece), Colorado (an even tinier piece)
62 hours of driving.

Things we love about Texas:

1. Green grass and color of landscape
2. Cleanliness and orderliness of small towns
3. Humidity (I didn’t say that one).
4. Better road quality
5. Cheaper gas (and other things)

Things We’ll Miss about Our Trip:

1. Being surrounded by English
2. Camera opportunities
3. Dry air
4. Stars
5. Being surprised by new landscapes
6. Being able to leave your room a mess every morning
7. Mountains in Sedona
8. Green Lake inside Carlsbad Caverns

Things we missed the most while traveling:

1. Home-cooked food
2. Personal car
3. Husband
4. Amani
5. Our own stuff at home
6. Eddie
7. Good Korean food
8. Food that doesn’t have New Mexican chilis in it

Our Favorite Things:

1. Organic Pizza restaurant in Sedona
2. The breeze in the Grand Canyon while hiking
3. Stars
4. White Sands and initial impressions of White Sands
5. the fresh, dry breeze in Monument Valley on the Navajo lands

Our Least Favorite Things:

1. Restrooms in the Grand Canyon and Navajo lands
2. The weather (heat) in Tucson
3. The sleepless night on the Navajo lands
4. Hail storm/totally bipolar weather in New Mexico

Most Memorable Things:

1. Watching Yan eat crickets (and eventually me)
2. Seeing the Grand Canyon
3. Sleeping outside with horses passing by
4. The view when sitting/relaxing on Bell Rock

Places We Don’t Recommend Next Time:

1. Four Corners (unless it’s 100% on the way)
2. Biosphere2 (we were split on this. Half of us loved it, half of us hated it).
3. Sedona on the weekend (wonderful on a weekday)

Places We Should Definitely Go Next Time:

1. Las Vegas
2. Sedona on a weekday
