Back in Wyoming, we were exhausted by the time we got to our awesome Bed and Breakfast called Sawin Logs owned by sweet Twila and Roy.

Twila recommended a restaurant for dinner in the nearby Hulett.

I had put off eating for the past hour or so because I kept thinking we’re almost there; we’re almost there … Then I can have a full dinner. The truth is, I should have just had a snack because bad things happen if I wait too long to eat and my blood sugar gets too low.

I sped to Hulett because I could feel myself getting close to breakdown and also because they closed at 8.

We made it at about 7:50 and as we entered the tiny town swarming with motorcycles, a very drunk guy was standing in the middle of the road with people around cheering at him. I had already started to roll down my window to ask where Main Street was before realizing he was totally wasted. I asked where main street was. He staggered toward the car and gazed lustingly into my eyes. I felt violated and I despise guys who look at girls like they’re pieces of meat. I rolled up the window and sped off before he could reach us by way of the open window.

Now, if you’ve traveled with me, you know that if I wait too long to eat, bad things happen. All logic and reason leave my mind. I can cry about literally anything. And nothing is funny any more. I cant think straight and i cant really make decisions.

So Because I was at that point, and because that guy made me so uncomfortable, I somehow reasoned that it was somehow unreasonable to eat at any restaurants in that town. I realize that makes no sense. But at the moment, to my sugar deprived mind, it made perfect sense. Stubbornly and angrily we sped off to the next place.

A couple of problems. It was 7:50 and nearly everything in these parts closes by 8. Also, the next town bigger than 300 people was at least 30 miles away. We stopped at the KOA down the road and their restaurant was already closed.

I almost stopped driving, laid my seat back, and just sat there stubbornly… Because somehow that’s what eventually seems reasonable in my mind if I wait too long to eat.

Erisa and Anxhela thought it was funny. I was annoyed with myself for being so crazy but I just can’t really help it at that point. I know that it’s ridiculous but it’s like something in my brain changes in those situations.

Anyway, we found a family restaurant along the way and the lady was nice enough to feed us even though she was about to close.

That was the best ham and cheese sandwich I’ve ever had. Ha.

We went to bed early and slept well.

The next day we moved on to Devil’s Tower.

Several Native American tribes consider it sacred. One legend says that there was once a giant bear chasing a little girl. She found a rock, sat on it, and prayed to mother earth. Suddenly the rock started rising out of the ground. The bear scratched at the sides of the rock while it rose, leaving the vertical marks on the rock.

In reality, it is some kind of volcanic formation.
